Creative England & Crowdfunder are looking for England’s best female game developers

The UK’s largest crowdfunding website (Crowdfunder) and Creative England have started a crowdfunding partnership in order to find and fund the best female game developers that England has to offer.

Where are the girls?

According to the numbers shown on the Crowdfunder campaign page, nearly half of all the gamers in England are female, yet there’s only 12% women within the gaming development industry. Why is that?

The goal of the so called Queen of Code campaign is to encourage girls and women across the country who are interested in coding and (game) development to join the game development world.

The first £15k fund will be given to women in the gaming who present a viable and creative idea about a game they would like to create and build, either by themselves or in a team.

Three of the most promising projects will then be selected and given an additional £5k boost from the nonprofit organization Creative England. Check out one of the aspiring projects in the video below!
