Take a look at David Bowie’s £10m private art collection

Although the legend himself died earlier this year at the age of 69, his music will live in and so will his deeply rooted love for art.

For the first time David Bowie’s private art collection will be shared with the outside world at Sotheby’s display in London.

“The only thing” he’d ever wanted to own

Back in 1998 Bowie told the New Yorks time in an interview that ‘art was the one and only thing he’d ever wanted’, hence his multi-million dollar private collection.

Below are some of the many – mostly highly expensive – works such as paintings on canvas by the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat and sculptures made by Ettore Sottsass.

The Bowie/Collector exhibition will run from 1 to 10 November starting of in London and after taking a brief world tour with stops in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and New York.

All items will be auctioned on 10 and 11 November at Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries.
